What is the most important thing most people around me need?

I live in a place where everyone around me is a college student.  Most have their basic needs provided for.

I think in the end, the service I could most readily render is that of a smile, a willing hand, and a compassionate heart.

I'm going to Ecuador,
You're not gonna see me no more,
Why am I going, Why do you ask? Cause I've got
fourteen thousand bananas to bring back.

You oughta come along with me,
There are so many sights we'd see,
Eat some bananas, hang with the apes,
Now don't go whinin about the sour grapes,

We're goin on a road trip around the world!
See the sights, smell the sounds, all around unfurled,
We're going, just you and me,
And it's going to be so much fun,

We're gonna hop on a plane and go,
Forget about our life and hit the road,
And maybe on the way, we'll
find out what life really means.

And on the way back, we'll talk
about the monkeys, you know how they walked,
We'll bring back some pictures, some souvenirs,
Oh hey, you remember how they drank that beer!

We'll give out bananas, save me the peel,
Then get in the car and take the steering wheel,
We're back in our lives, but are they same,
I think we're a little bit different since we came on the plane.

We just hopped on a plane and flew,
Forgot about our life and oh how we grew
